Last night I had the opportunity to network with more than 700 professionals in Central Florida at the Orlando Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Awards celebration.
It was an incredible honor to be named a finalist in the ‘Women to Watch’ category. Maritza Martinez, assistant vice president of community relations at the University of Central Florida, was named the winner. I felt so privileged to be included in the same category as her.
I first met Maritza when I worked as the marketing manager of the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce; she was the past chair and was serving on the board. She left a profound impression on me since the first day I met her.
She is brilliant, having earned not only a bachelor’s and master’s degree, but a prestigious executive MBA. She and her husband, Julio, are parents to two beautiful girls.
Maritza is an active leader within the community and was recently named chair of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando. She’s a beautiful person, inside and out, and I really admire her. Congratulations, Maritza!
