Latin music fans everywhere are mourning the loss of one of Regional Mexican music’s finest and most promising stars. Adan “Chalino” Sanchez, 19, died in tragic automobile accident on March 27 in Sinaloa, Mexico. The singer was on his way to a performance in Puerto Vallarta.

Sanchez was the son of renowned corrido singer and songwriter, Chalino Sanchez, who was murdered in Sinaloa over a decade ago.

Adan began captivating audiences at the young age of nine. “We are shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic news, and all of us have lost a good, friend, a brilliant artist, and a great human being,” said Jose Behar, president and CEO of Univision Music Group in a press release. “All who knew and worked with Adan remember his pleasant spirit and positive attitude.” Behar described Sanchez as a kind, loving son and brother, who worked hard to pay homage to his father and to emulate his own style of music. “We have been honored that he entrusted us with his music and friendship, all of us at Univision Music Group will greatly miss him,” Behar said.

In March 2004, Sanchez became the youngest artist to headline a concert at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, Califas. The sold out concert featured a performance of a song to his father and a multi-media presentation of photos of the father and son.

Sanchez lived with his mother, Marisela Sanchez, and sister, Cynthia, in the southern California town of Paramount. The singer’s latest effort, Un Sonador, was released in August 2003 in the U.S. and Mexico. Sanchez also collaborated with AKWID on the hit “A Pesar De Todo.”
